/ In this Yearbook, we have collected the finest and best in urban planning and landscape architecture of the past year. The paved surfaces of the city centres in Alkmaar, Groningen and The Hague
were softened somewhat. Long-term projects were developed with vision and perseverance in Ede, Arnhem and Amsterdam, where old barracks and factory sites have become delightful contemporary
residential areas. Smart interventions made impoverished urban neighbourhoods liveable again, as in Eindhoven, Utrecht and Maastricht. And a stream valley in Brabant is becoming a testing ground
for rural transition. Many of the projects are about connections and long lines; one even features a two-kilometre-long city park!
Compiled by the editors of Blauwe Kamer magazine, this Yearbook includes 18 projects selected by an independent committee of professionals, as well as interviews and articles on topical themes.
Yearbook Landscape architecture and Urban Design 2024 received financial support from Creative Industries Fund NL, Chief Government Architect and Advisors and the NHBOS foundation.
