'scape study trip to Lyon
Magazine 'scape organises a study trip to Lyon with Rob van der Bijl as guide, urban planner and editor for 'scape magazine. France's second city is at least as interesting as Paris or Bordeaux. The public space is impressive, and the many car parks are phenomenal - Lyon has always been a car city. Still, it also has a fantastic underground and an admirable tramway system is rapidly being laid. So we are going to see it all, and more, like for instance the splendid parks and many buildings. From 9 to 1 October, guiding price for participation 1300 euros (single room) or 1075 euros (double room). More information and signing up: robvanderbijl@gmail.com.

5th Biennial of Landscape Architecture
The registration period for the 5th European Biennial of Landscape Architecture "Storm & Stress" has been opened. The event will take place in Barcelona on 25, 26 and 27 September, and wishes to celebrate ten years of Landscape Architecture at the Biennial by sharing an exceptional symposium with you: on the first day of the conference, eleven prestigious experts will guide us through the work of the finalists for the Rosa Barba European Prize for Landscape Architecture. On the second day, new areas of debate within the discipline will be expounded by special guests at two separate round tables. On the third day, the current state of North American Landscape Architecture will be illustrated by authors of new projects there.
At the same time, four exhibitions with Biennial-related themes can be enjoyed: an exhibition by the finalists for the Rosa Barba European Prize for Landscape Architecture. An exhibition by international schools of Landscape Architecture. Phoenix: American landscapes. Reciprocities: Contemporary North American projects.

New Aedesland gallery
The renowned German Architecture Forum Aedes has transformed one of its two locations in Berlin into a gallery exclusively devoted to landscape architecture and urban open space, called AedesLand. This is to highlight the increasingly central role landscape architecture will play in the design of our future living environments, say Kristin Feireiss and Hans-Jürgen Commerell, the initiators of AedesLand. The new gallery intends to host four exhibitions each year and will create other formats for encouraging critical international discourse. Upcoming exhibitions: 'Bad Places and Oases' by Latz and Partner from September 5 to October 31, and "City and Structure", metropolises photographed by Hans Georg Esch, from November 7 to January 11.
